Myofascial Release Sunshine Coast
Many people describe feeling like their body never fully relaxes — headaches, tight shoulders, stiff hips, jaw tension, shallow breathing, or a constant sense of holding on.
Myofascial Release Therapy (MRT) is a gentle, hands-on approach that works with the body’s fascia, designed to help your body let go of deep tension and protective holding patterns that may be contributing to pain, restriction, and discomfort. Rather than forcing change, we use gentle, sustained pressure to help the body release tension, improve movement, and reduce ongoing tightness.
Sessions are calm, tailored to your comfort level, and focused on helping you feel more connected, relaxed, and confident in your body again.

Myofascial Release Can Benefit People Who:
Myofascial Release helps to calm an overactive nervous in those with persistent pain, thus promoting healing. MRT also helps to release restricted fascia that may be associated with low back pain, shoulder pain, hip pain, or pain elsewhere in the body.
Experience Chronic (Persistent) Pain
Have Restricted Movement and Tightness
Myofascial Release helps by relaxing and lengthening the fascial tissue, enhancing flexibility and allowing for smoother, more unrestricted movement.
Experience Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) / Jaw Issues
Myofascial Release Therapy can help alleviate jaw pain and tension associated with the TMJ by releasing tightness in the facia and neck and head muscles that may be contributing to TMJ issues.
Experience Migraines or Tension Headaches
Chronic headaches, especially those tied to muscular tension in the neck, head and shoulders, may improve with Myofascial Release Therapy, which releases tension and reduces pain in these related areas
Responsive
Fascia has up to 10x more sensory nerves than muscle making myofascial release a powerful tool for pain relief.
Holistic
The fascia is throughout, and connects the entire body. MRT can have a positive, whole-body effect.
Restorative
Reduce pain and restore function to allow you to get back to doing the things you love.

Myofascial Release Therapy differs from a regular massage in both technique and focus. While a regular massage generally targets muscles, MRT specifically targets the fascia, a web-like connective tissue that surrounds muscles and all other tissue. Tight or restricted fascia can lead to pain and limited mobility. MRT uses slow, sustained pressure applied directly to the fascia (and muscles), aiming to release restrictions in these connective tissues.
-
The number of sessions varies depending on the individual's needs and the severity of the condition. Some people notice improvement after just one session, but a series of treatments is often recommended to achieve longer-lasting results, especially for chronic or deep-seated issues.
-
During an MRT session, your therapist will apply sustained pressure to targeted areas of tension, which may include the use of hand or elbows. Sessions are generally slow-paced, and some clients may feel mild discomfort as tension releases, but it’s usually a relieving sensation.
Your session may be supplemented by some gentle, slow movement to allow your body to consolidate and adapt to the changes that it went through via the MFR treatment.
